If I sign up as an Avon representative, do I have to fill my garage with Avon products to sell to customers?
Certainly not. While some sales organizations will make you stock items that you sell, Avon is based on an order-as-you-go model. You collect customer orders, order the products from Avon, then deliver them to your customers when the items arrive.

Do I have to recruit a certain number of new representatives?
No. With Avon, the choice of how to grow your business is up to you. You can just sell products (or even just buy them for your own use), or you can build a unit - it all depends on you.

If I sign up as an Avon representative, do I have to order a lot of products every month?
No. Avon is based on two-week-long sales cycles (roughly two a month) called campaigns. To maintain your representative status, you must place an order every other campaign. The dollar amount of the order does not matter - it can be a 50-cent lip balm, or one box of catalogs - you just have to order something to remain active.

Avon is not a pyramid scheme, but rather a multi-level marketing business. The main difference lies in where you make your money.

How much does it really cost to become an Avon representative?
The only required initial investment is your sign-up fee ($10 as of 1/16/2004). This gets you a startup kit that contains a training book, samples, and 10 catalogs. From those initial catalogs, you will get your initial orders. Depending on the volume of your sales, your whole Avon business can be self-funding from the start.

If I sign up for Avon, do I have to go to meetings?
There are no required meetings for Avon. There are monthly district sales meetings, and your upline(s) may occasionally have meetings of their own. Kat currently hosts meetings every other Saturday with information for the whole unit as well as specific information for leadership representatives.

What if I sign up and then have questions on how Avon works, or how to handle my business?
You have a whole team of people there to support you. Your first line of support is the Success By Design binder that you receive as part of your New Hire kit. If you are unable to find the answer there, your next avenue of support is the person who recruited you. You can also always call us for help - we believe in supporting our entire downline. You can also call your District Manager or Avon.

Does Avon assign territories?
Avon used to assigned sales territories, but does not do so any longer. You can sell and recruit anywhere you want.
